How Much Does It Cost?

The minimum cost is the annual Pack 546 registration fee. For 2008, it is $50 per boy if you also agree to help with fundraising. If you don't want to help with our fundraising activities, then the cost is $100. There will also be costs for uniforms (about $50) and the Cub Scout handbook ($4.25 - $12.95). While uniforms are not mandatory to participate, they serve an important role in the program. Boys take pride in their uniform as it shows that they are part of a group and allows them to display their current rank in the program. In cases of financial hardship, arrangements can generally be made to provide a uniform. The book is also an integral part of the program and will show all the requirements necessary for boys to earn their badges and awards. It is used to keep track of their progress and has lots of useful information. There may also be additional costs depending on what activities you participate in. There are generally fees for campouts, summer camps, day camps, etc.

Where Does the Registration Fee Go?

  • $11 to the Boy Scouts of America for the youth registration fee
  • Subscription to Boys Life magazine
  • Cost of advancement award patches and belt loops
  • Pine Wood Derby car kit
  • Rain Gutter Regatta boat kit
  • The balance goes to the pack to help pay for things like pack equipment (flags, campout gear, etc.), leader educational materials, pack meeting refreshments and supplies, and more.

Does the Pack Need More Than $50 Per Boy?

In general, yes. We have found that it can cost considerably more to provide a full program for the boys than the annual pack registration fee provides. To raise additional funds, there will be several fund raisers throughout the year that boys and parents will be asked to participate in. These may include:

  • BSA Popcorn Sale
  • Scout-O-Rama Ticket Sale
  • Roller Skate Night
  • Cake Auction
  • Any others we think of!
